Meet the Voice Behind West Kentucky Radio

For Matt Lindsey, the "On Air" sign has been lit since childhood. Long before he was broadcasting across the digital airwaves of West Kentucky Radio, Matt was honing his craft from a makeshift studio in his childhood bedroom.

From Intercoms to the Airwaves

The spark for radio began with a gift from his grandmother, "Nanny"—a pair of vintage intercoms. While most kids were playing outside, Matt was upstairs with his record player, spinning tracks and broadcasting his voice through the wires to his family listening downstairs.

That childhood passion turned professional in 2008, when Matt landed his first official radio gig at Lite Rock 104.9 in Princeton, KY. However, the constraints of corporate radio couldn't contain his vision. Driven by a desire for creative freedom, Matt ventured out on his own a year later, launching his first internet radio station on Live365.

A Passion Beyond the Classroom

By day, Matt serves his community as a full-time high school teacher. By night (and every spare moment in between), he returns to his first love. While West Kentucky Radio is a hobby, it is fueled by a lifelong passion for music and the unique connection that only radio can provide.

Since those early days in 2009, Matt has managed various stations, but West Kentucky Radio represents the culmination of his journey—a place where the music is personal and the DJ is a local voice you can trust.

Tune in daily to catch Matt Lindsey on West Kentucky Radio, where the spirit of the old bedroom intercom lives on.
